Flinders University's Thinking About Thinking App: SA Youth Forum Consultation

SAYF first partnered with Flinders University in 2025 to facilitate a one-off youth consultation exploring young people’s perspectives on the development of the Thinking About Thinking app.

Following this initial consultation, Flinders University returned to SAYF in 2026 with a working prototype shaped by the feedback provided by young people in the first session. This created an opportunity for young people to remain involved in the research and development process, providing further feedback before the next stage of development.

The engagement reflects SAYF’s evolving consultancy model, moving beyond one-off consultations to establish ongoing partnerships with researchers and organisations whose work directly impacts young people. As part of the consultation, SAYF leaders also supported the session as co-facilitators, helping to lead discussions and create an environment where young people could meaningfully contribute.

Prior to the session, SAYF reviewed the proposed agenda and consultation questions to ensure the process aligned with the Forum’s approach to meaningful youth engagement and provided genuine opportunities for young people to influence the project.
